One of the best things about my job is witnessing the sweet, excited, full-of-love-and-hope couples and hearing their stories. Weddings are such an "industry" now that they can quickly become a cliché -- or for someone working in the industry, just the norm. But when it comes down to it, making the decision to walk through life together is endlessly moving. Couples like Julie and Thomas remind me of this. I loved spending an evening with them, taking some casual portraits around Hampton Park (on a quilt made by Julie's grandmother in the 1920s!) and then over a drink at the Belmont. They'll be getting married in a small ceremony in New York next month, followed by a big party back here in Charleston. I can't wait to celebrate with them.
