Over the weekend, I had the eye-opening experience of accompanying my dad to Memphis, where he played a songwriter's benefit show for St. Jude Children's Hospital. I always knew they were a hospital with an incredible mission, but I had no idea the extent of their above-and-beyond generosity and progressiveness. In 1962 when St. Jude's was founded, the survival rate for children with cancer was four percent; today it's 96. It's easy to get overwhelmed by charities and statistics, but it's so important to be involved and aware -- no matter how insignificant one single person or contribution may feel. That's what I have to keep reminding myself, anyway. Baby steps lead somewhere!
On another note, I'm over on Freunde von Freunden today! Working with them has been such a pleasure. Take a peek here.
