I know Charleston well. And as much as I love it, experiencing something that feels entirely new is somewhat rare. Though that is precisely how I felt after spending an afternoon on Hirona Matsuda's porch garden. Hirona is an assemblage artist who I've long admired from afar, so hearing her stories and seeing her home (overflowing with tiny things) was a treat.
Leaving Hirona's house, I felt that I traveled somewhere exotic and eye-opening. Her perspective is refreshing and her enthusiasm for Charleston is contagious. See the full interview on Freunde von Freunden.
