On our West Coast road trip we camped or stayed with friends for the most part, but the Korakia Pensione was the splurge I had my heart set on. We spent 24 hours of total bliss there (most of which weren't even sunny, which I'm pretty sure is rare in Palm Springs) rarely leaving the premises. We finished books by the pool, admired the bougainvillea, went to sleep early and swam in the empty pool before breakfast. It was Oscar night during our stay and while I was initially disappointed to miss them (no TV), we embraced the quiet with a bike ride around the neighborhood and a few rounds of Gin rummy by the fire. It felt like a true vacation.
