This weekend was exactly what I needed: calm, peaceful, relaxing, domestic bliss.
I spent time cooking, cleaning, and getting acclimated in my new temporary furnished apartment. I'm surrounded by more neutral colors than I've ever seen in my life, but it's new, clean, organized, creature-free, and for right now, perfect.
We experienced our first fallish weather and wearing my new favorite sweater (three days in a row) was enough to make my weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed a solo trip to the farmers' market, had a nice conversation with my heirloom tomato man (is this starting to get stalkerish?) and bought the necklace I've been lusting over for weeks. I also had the best time picking out goodies for the giveaway (apple butter, lemon tea cookies, stone ground grits).
More importantly, today is Tyler's 25th birthday! I wish I could spend it with him, but as my replacement I ordered him a white chocolate amaretto and cheesecake-filled cake from a local Oregon bakery. I hope it will suffice. I plan on talking to him on the phone while he eats it and living vicariously through him
Every single day I'm inspired by Tyler's ambition and resilience on this crazy-challenging trip (if you missed it, he is biking cross-country for child abuse prevention). They have officially passed the 3,000 mile mark, and he's asking for donations for his birthday (every cent helps!). Read his birthday post here to learn more.
Happy Birthday Ty! I love you and am so proud of you!
